I´ve only heard a little about this whole thing, but it seems everybody is excited about it. I read your story and I have to tell you that you sound very genuine in what you were thinking. I have been in situations like that before and i know how hard it is. God never puts pressure. He is a good God. I believe in the filling of the Holy Spirit, and some of the experiences that comes with it, but anytime there is a real there is always a false. Just like Joanes and Jombres in the old testament . Moses threw down his rod and it became a snake, but so did the magicians...but Moses was God and the others were not. But moses rod swallowed the others up. But all the stuff i hear about his meetings sound way too extreme.
i´m proud of you

Betti, as I read your comment, I couldn't help but notice that you have the standard false religious mentality that most church goers have. That of "don't judge".

1. We don't have a "ministry" that seeks out to discredit other ministries. We do not have the time, nor the inclination to do so. But, Todd Bentley is something special
2. The Word CLEARLY tells us to expose the false ministers. Most church goers do not read their word enough to have the discernment to know the true from the false. Which explains why they actually believe a man, that tries to sell the anointing, is actually of God.

Hmmhhhh... There sure is alot of negative commentary on the internet about the Lakeland services and Todd Bentley. It makes me wonder how many "ministries" or "truth-missionaries" would have been raised up at the time of Jesus over 2,000 years ago to warn fellow believers about the deception and satanic motivation in His ministry. Had the internet been around at that time, can't you just see it now?

* Forums discussing the audacity of this man, calling Himself the Son of God! After all, He literally spoke to demons, after which an entire herd of swine plunged into the sea, ruining the source of income for most of that town.
* He claimed He would die and rise again after three days. What is THAT all about?! No wonder many - even His own family - attributed His powers to Beelzebub, the devil.
* What would have been spread on the internet about Moses, who invoked "supernatural powers" to turn his staff into a serpent and used it to part the Red Sea? Or who hit a rock which brought forth water? After all, Pharaoh's magicians, who were confessing atheists, did the same thing and repeated the acts performed by Moses on several occasions.
* What would the anti-Noah forum have been called? Can't you just hear the jokes about the weirdo claiming God told him to build a huge boat to escape a worldwide flood... when it had never before even rained on the earth?!!
* Remember that donkey which spoke? How unusual that must have been! Did someone put a satanic demon in him?
* Moses claimed he was in God's presence and came down from the mountain with such a glow that he had to put a veil over his face. He also brought with him stone tablets which God had supposedly written. Can you imagine the outrage of those with him that he would have the audacity to say God would speak - and even appear - to him personally?!!
* Paul certainly was not one we would expect to be touched by God and then to minister in His Word and works. He claimed to have seen Jesus while en route to actively persecute a whole region of Christian believers. Since we KNOW that personal visitations of Jesus aren't possible because that is just far too out there, it must have been a demonic angel of light. After all, he WAS blinded by that bright light for three whole days.
* Same goes for John, who wants us to believe he visited heaven and was told explicitly about what would happen in the end times. Why would he get this privilege and not all the other apostles?
* It is far too strange to even fathom that Peter's shadow, let alone handkerchiefs, and Jesus' cloak could heal the sick. I mean, where do people come up with this stuff?!
* Who today would listen to a wild, camel-skin clad, grasshopper-eating man living in the desert, calling all men to repentence of sin, for One is coming greater than himself? Talk about a guaranteed invite to all the nightly talk shows and a sure target for monologue jokes!
* How about King David - adulterer, murderer and coward in times of war? And yet God calls him His friend?!!
* Aside from Jesus Himself, was there ever another perfect and infallible vessel chosen by God to perform His works and preach His gospel?

A word to all who criticize fellow sisters and brothers in Christ and make it their mission to convince other fellow believers of the same: While we may have a difficult time understanding with our natural mind what we see, wouldn't it be wiser to examine all things and keep what is good? And not to listen to our "feelings" but to seek true discernment from the Lord in our spirit. Our feelings can deceive us - they are clouded by our expectations, our experiences, our pain, our successes, and our hopes.

If all the hype (Bentley-benevolence vs the Bentley-bashers) is getting you upset, and you feel like your knowledge of the word is not adequate enough to help you through your questions and doubts, then let me encourage you to seek out a pastor or other spiritual leader/mentor who is more mature and grounded in the Word to help you through it. Certainly they will also make mistakes, and it would not be wise to take their words as gospel truth. But God called elders in His church to lead us. It is wise to at least seek out their counsel and to consider it prayerfully before assuming we are on and they are off. It is not our job to criticize our pastors, unless they have sinned and we can approach them (in private) with the testimony of two or more witnesses. So often I hear about "younger" Christians (meaning "younger" or less grounded in the Word) who believe they have a revelation that their spiritual leaders are being led astray and feel the need to correct them, maybe even to leave the church. The Bible tells us to honor them and to pray for them, and that they will be accountable to the Lord Himself for what they teach and how they lead. My conviction is that we all need to be in the local church God directed us to, and to stay there until He tells us to move on. And this has nothing to do with how we FEEL, and has everything to do with His will.

Wouldn't it be wiser to pray that our love abound more and more in all knowledge, and for a spirit of wisdom and discernment so that we can approve what is excellent, and thus stand blameless before Christ upon the day of His return? Wouldn't that be a better investment of our time and our prayers than forming "ministries" and "web platforms" to discredit those preaching, teaching and walking in the things of God?

I don't read anywhere in the Bible of a single ministry formed only to discredit the false prophets. Instead, we are each individually called to be responsible to the Lord about whom we follow and to become diligent students of the Word. No antichrist can say that Jesus is Lord.

You know what? I don't care whether Todd is 100% right on or not. I already know he's not because he is not Jesus. And if people choose to focus on him and worship him, that is not his issue. Those folks wanting to make him a god or are seeing him as a "channel" of the Holy Spirit are going to have to answer to the Lord for that themselves. What I have heard and seen of him is an incredible love for the Lord, a deep understading of the Word (although I may not always agree with his interpretation of everything), complete submission to what God wants to do, even at the expense of his own reputation and a heart for the lost combined with the desire to proclaim the good news of the kingdom so that all may be saved. Jesus did the same thing, and signs and wonders followed to substantiate what He said about the love and mercy of God. He also said we would do the same and even more than He did, in the signs and wonders department. I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape. Are people getting saved? Yes. Is the name of Jesus being proclaimed above all names as the only way to get saved? Yes. Is it sometimes weird? Yes. But when, in the Bible, or in our own Christian walk, for that matter, did God EVER react in the way man expected Him to?

If we were to spend the same amount of time witnessing to the lost in our neighborhood, or at the grocery store or mall, and lift up our doubts on other spiritual issues to the Lord in our personal time of fellowship and prayer, wouldn't THAT do a whole lot more to bring in harvest for the Kingdom? Wouldn't that be better fruit of our invested time, prayers and energy? AND, we would be holding fast to Eph 4:29 by not letting any unwholesome talk come out of our mouths, but only that which is uplifting to others in their time of need. Let's build up and encourage, not tear down, discredit and sow division. It is the Holy Spirit's job to convict us of righteousness and the truth, not ours!

I want to thank you for sharing this experience. I had not heard of this revival and was with a friend one night and he turned it on the TV. He kept having physical manifestations of being touched by what was going on during the revival as we watched it. I, however, did not get anything and began to wonder what was "wrong" with me. Now I know! I am going to warn my friends. I will be the watchman on the tower for them. It is their choice to listen and ask God or to reject my message of the danger of listening to this man.

I praise God that you were not taken in by Todd Bentley and those false doctrines. I have a feeling he skipped your row because the REAL -Holy Spirit- was there - with YOU!
I don't believe you can get more of the Spirit than you have when God imparts His Spirit to you when you're saved. You can experience more of his glory, but you won't experience it at Todd Bentley's hands.
Thank you so much for sharing this testimony. People need to know! You were so wise to PRAY through all of this - that wisdom comes from God. He will always show us what is true and right and good. Your testimony is being used now to lead people in the right Way!

Seek the truth through His Word and not the power of miracles.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/3566516/Todd-Bentley-Dark-Night-of-the-Soul-Kundalini-Awakening-MYSTICAL-SEEKERS-

TODD BENTLEY~ THE NEW BREED AND THE false ANOINTING~ JOEL’S ARMY

Jacksonville, Fl. June 24, 2008
Dear Saints
William Branham’s Jesus Only, Latter Rain, angel healing doctrines was rejected as heresy by all major established Pentecostal Churches. It has returned with many of the grandsons preachers receiving these unscriptural teachings because of miracles.
At the same time of Branham’s ministry there were many men blazing a trail across the nation preaching the healing message, that the Bible is God’s Word and He can back up His Word through Miracles. And many brought the message to the church and it was received. I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES TOO.
However, the Spirit and the word will always agree. There is a very powerful evil spirit of Kundalini moving through the church. “Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness”. 2 Thess. 2:9-12. KJV

Look at this film and weep for the Church. Is this coming to your Church?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwlRisYyGAI

I think you will agree that the above clip looks as though these people were in an insane asylum instead of a church. The sleeping church is totally unprepared for this unleashing of evil spirits and many souls will end up in hell because of the spiritual blindness of the leaders.
There is an evil working within the Christian that will destroy it unless men and women repent and ask the Lord Jesus to reveal His truth to the believers. THE WOLF IS IN THE SHEEP PEN.
It is the love of the truth and Jesus that will get you into His Kingdom. Jesus can and will do miracles but the sign that must be discerned in last days are those who have a sign and wonders ministry. We must test the spirits to see if they be of God. See this scripture.

“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles , which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty,”( Rev 16:13-14).

Jani,

Have you studied what Todd Bentley teaches? Do you think it's okay to sell the anointing? Do you think it's okay to sell "anointed" handkerchiefs? Do you think it's okay to teach new age doctrines? Do you think it's okay to flop around like a dying fish?

I agree with you that not everything is in the bible. However, that is traditionally used as an argument for anything and everything goes. Todd Bentley is a deceived man, and is deceiving MILLIONS. Read Jude, and you'll get a good picture of Todd.

I would like to addres several things that caught my eye in this blog you wrote.
Firstly it is a common misconception that Christians cannot have demons. Where in the Bible does it say that? It does say however that demons leave you when you are baptised, but they can return, especially if you continue to sin after you become a Christian. Being a Christian does not make us exempt from Satans attacks. God does protect us. But if he were to protect us all the time from everything we would never grow and learn about things like the consequences of our actions. We would continue to sin and say hey, God will forgive us! This isn't right. So that we may learn and grow, like a father, God will allow us to learn the hard way, because we often don't listen when he says "don't commit adultery" "don't lie" etc. This is how we end up with demons attached to us. They are the consequences of our actions and if God protected us from all of them we would never grow into the person he wants us to be.

Secondly I can relate to your experience as I have had a similar account this year in Australia with Todd Bentley, although I don't believe the things he says contradict the Bible. My immediate friends have been healed of many different sicknesses and are completely joyful. I don't believe this is the work of satan, yet we are in a similar ministry to the Todd Bentley ministry and they got alot out of his conference. I am unable to feel the holy spirit. I believe this may be because of my depression. I have a friend who has depression. She got it really bad after her son died at the age of 5. She stopped feeling the holy spirit for a long time. When she finally got on top of it and through the help of antidepressants she was able to get on with life and enjoy it. It was only when her depression improved that she was able to feel the holy spirit again. This isn't fair, but its the way it is. We are too far down in our hole to be able to feel any kind of emotion or to feel the holy spirit.

Unbelief, fear and stubborness can also be a barrier to the Holy Spirit. Yeah, Todd looks silly, but its not about what he looks like. Its about what he says- which does not contradict the Bible. On the surface it may seem as though it does- but look deeper! For example some people say "women cant be preachers and pastors because it says it in the Bible". In this instance it has been taken out of context- Paul was instructing the churches at that specific time that women should not preach because in their culture at that time the women were not allowed to be educated/had only just started to be educated. So it stands to reason if women were not educated in that time then they shouldnt preach on things they don't know anything about. And yet some people apply it to today and say that any1 who supports women preachers are going against the Bible? The Bible is a complex thing. I will also point out that it says in one or more of the gospels that "these are only a fraction of the things Jesus did. If all of them were written down i suppose there would not be enough rooms in the world in which to put the books in" or words to that extent. Just caus it aint in the Bible doesn't mean it aint real. He does things in the name of Jesus, or in the case of "the annointing"- the annointing is Jesus! He uses the name of Jesus alot.

Do you know how much money it costs to run a ministry like that? It's huge. I don't blame him for trying to sell you his reasonably priced products. You have the money, so buy something useful instead of wasting it on a fancy restaurant or a day at an amusement park. And no, he isn't blowing all the money of himself. In fact a newspaper has done an artical on his finances and states that "Todd Bentley lives a very modest lifestyle". He's not in luxury. Also Fresh Fire Ministries put heaps of money into third world countries and people who need help. They aren't about profit and money. They are about helping people.

In saying all this, Todd is still human. No human should be treated like a God or like they know everything. He will still make mistakes. But even humans who make mistakes (which is everyone) can recieve the annointing of God. They can still recieve the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit will use whoever he can to try and help people. Nobody is perfect. Just because he aint perfect doesnt mean he is "the devil". He speaks the truth- read between the lines in the Bible. It doens't contradict most of if not all of what Todd Bentley says.

I understand where you are coming from but don't lose heart! Its not all bad :)
