Bible Mod v0.1.0 released
I released Bible Mod v0.1.0 for phpbb3 yesterday. It supports bible gateway currently, by converting bible verses into links.
Eventually I plan on submitting this to the phpbb3 mod database for official inclusion.
Note that it is really in alpha stages. I think I need to hook it in at other locations throughout the phpbb3 code, which I haven't examined yet. I also included code that disables parsing of text before storage, as I think it is a bad way of doing things because the post parsing becomes permanent. I will probably move that into it's own mod eventually as well. Hopefully before requesting addition to the official mod database.
Features I plan on adding are as follows.
- enable or disable the mod. I am hoping that the phpbb guys can accept the code into the main phpbb code. It can be disabled by default, as most people won't use it.
- An AJAX bible verse selector that uses your preferred bible. The plan is to have it connect to a bible site and grab the bible text directly from there, and insert it into your post. Sometimes people want just a link, and other times they want the entire text in there.

This module is only for PHPBB3. I don’t support any other version of phpbb3. So, I’m not sure what you are referring to

I should add: I was looking for a mod on Phpbb forum software that allowed the user to type a Bible verse, which then would be parsed into a link to BibleGateway… The mod is available for version 2.x of Phpbb, but not 3.x, at least as far as I’ve detected. Thanks

The link you provided to your site just opens a MOD file that has nothing within it other than a link to a .tar file?

Hi John,
The mod is for phpbb 3.0, does exactly what you want it to do. Namely parse bible verses and turn them into bible gateway links.
Double click the “.tar” file, once you have opened the file, and it should then show you the rest of the files.
I didn’t think about it being confusing to be in a tar.gz file. But, seeing that it was for you, I will stick it in a zip file in the future. But for now, just follow the instructions above.

THe lonk doesn’t work for me, though. It comes up as a MOD file with the following information:
